We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our exceptional team. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our construction projects by providing accurate and comprehensive estimates that enable us to secure and execute projects successfully. This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes, materials, labor costs, and industry trends. The Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimation: Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive estimates for a variety of heavy civil and utility construction projects, including but not limited to site development, grading, excavation, utilities, concrete, and asphalt paving.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct thorough cost analysis, identifying potential cost savings, value engineering opportunities, and risk factors associated with each project.
- Bid Management: Manage the entire bid process, from reviewing project plans and specifications to soliciting and evaluating quotes from subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure that bids are submitted accurately and on time.
- Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, materials, and technologies. Use this knowledge to continuously improve estimating processes and enhance competitiveness.
- Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Provide clear and professional communication throughout the bidding process.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators, sharing expertise and best practices to foster their professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in heavy civil and utility construction estimating and business development.
- Strong understanding of construction practices, methods, and materials.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency with estimating software, such as HeavyBid or B2W
- Ability to travel as needed to job sites and industry events.
