Position Summary
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the twenty-four (24) hour management of clinical nursing practice and the delivery of quality and safe patient care within the hospital. She/he is the nursing administrative representative in the hospital in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the management of clinical nursing practice and patient care in the nursing unit.
  2. Participates in strategic planning of the assigned nursing unit, including human resources and material management. Incorporates strategic goals into daily practice on assigned units.
  3. Ensures professional practice in the management of patient care within a framework that includes nursing practice, education, and research. Assures evidence-based practice.
  4. Continuously assess patient, family, and community needs and the promotion of optimal outcome through utilization of the nursing process.
  5. Promotes management integrity and efficiency through positive supportive work relationships, professional leadership, accountability, effective communication and resolution skills.
  6. Manages nursing unit's' performance improvement program. Promotes on-going improvement and evaluation practice standards and patient outcome.
  7. Provides a positive environment for employee growth and development with open communication throughout the system, and effective allocation and utilization of human resources.
  8. Manages fiscal resources with an ongoing awareness of Health care policies and economics that affect nursing practice and patient care. Complete payroll activities as required.
  9. Continuously assess the need for and recommend changes in standards of staffing according to results of staff utilization reports.
  10. Ensures institutional compliance with professional, regulatory, and government standards of care; for example, but not limited to focusing on care planning, MDS coordination, IDT meetings, and regulatory compliance (e.g., CDPH, CMS, Title 22
  11. Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationship among disciplines/department to ensure effective quality patient care delivery. Overseeing QAPI (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement) initiatives as required by CMS for SNFs
  12. Promotes professional excellence and personal well-being of staff and self. Membership in a professional organization(s) related to management and / or clinical specialty.
  13. Promotes and maintains a safe working environment and ensures safe conduct in all aspects of job performance.
  14. Supports systematic investigation towards increasing the sum of knowledge that advances nursing practice.
  15. Complies with CHA Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statues, regulations and guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statue, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs.
  16. Coordinates all employee disciplinary actions with Human Resources and the CNO. MDS Oversight and support for accurate assessment and reimbursement.
  17. IDT Participation: Active role in interdisciplinary care planning.
  18. Survey Readiness: Coordinates with staff to ensure compliance with annual CDPH and CMS surveys.
  19. Meets staffing Standards per Title 22 and CDPH guidelines.
  20. Enhance family Communication and Resident Rights Oversight.

Qualifications
  1. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalency required. Master's degree is strongly preferred.
  3. Two years' clinical experience, within past five years preferred. Two years' experience in leadership and managerial skills, including finance, budgeting, organizational theory, human resource management and marketing.
  4. Project management skills are strongly preferred.
  5. certificate or obtained within 60 days of hire. ACLS/PALS if SNF handles higher acuity or subacute cases.
  6. Meets screening criteria of Human Resources and Occupational Health.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, staff is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and/or listen. He/she uses his/her hands to do computer work, write reports, do equipment set-up/cleaning/storage, clerical support, etc. He/she will be using the phone frequently. Good vision is needed to be able to read schedules, enter accurate data, etc. He/she must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability so as to carry out the above-enumerated duties.
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, and move 50% of the day.
  • Use proper body mechanics when handling equipment.

Compliance Requirements
Complies with Chinese Hospital Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations, guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include, following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statute, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs.
Base Pay Scale
Starting at $135,928 - $203,715/year. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
