Head of Conversion Rate Optimisation (Head of CRO) Compensation and Benefits: ● Salary Range: £70,000 – £90,000 (depending on experience and capability, reflecting the strategic and hands on nature of this role) ● Performance Bonus: Significant bonus scheme linked to company wide delivery, goal achievement, and operational improvement. ● Growth Share/Equity Potential: Exceptional performers who make a major impact on our success will have the opportunity to share directly in the long term value they help create. We offer a highly competitive package designed to attract an exceptional strategic operator. About Us We are the clear market leader in our sector and one of the fastest growing car buying companies in the world. In the UK we generate over 100,000 customer enquiries each month and facilitate the purchase of thousands of vehicles through our high traffic websites and nationwide operations. We have now launched across the United States, with multiple states already operational and an ambitious plan to expand nationwide. Our rapid expansion and success have been driven by outstanding people, a strong culture, and our ability to lean into the advantages of cutting edge technology. We are not a speculative startup. We have been established for over 15 years, are highly profitable, and have achieved this scale without external funding. That gives us both security and momentum – and yet, despite our size, we have kept the excitement, energy, and ambition of a startup. Our team is collaborative, ambitious, and relentlessly driven to be the best and most exciting place to work in our sector. Our target is bold: we are working towards a billion dollar valuation within the next five years. Along the way, we want our growth to make a positive difference to others. We have already donated over £1 million to various charities, and as we scale, so too will our donations. We offer a great base salary and bonus system, but the real game changer is what comes over the longer term. Because of the huge opportunity for growth in the US, we intend to explore opportunities to provide equity in the business for those who make an exceptional impact in driving this expansion. We want the people who help us achieve our most ambitious goals to share directly in the value they create. This can result in genuinely life changing benefits as the company continues its growth journey. The Role: Owning End to End Conversion Rate Optimisation This is a senior, high impact role for a commercially minded CRO leader who is obsessed with improving conversion at every stage of the customer journey — online and offline. You will own conversion rate optimisation across the entire business, from first website visit through to booked vehicle collection, including all digital, human, and automated touchpoints in between. Your core mandate is to design, implement, and continuously optimise a true end to end conversion strategy. This includes increasing lead generation on site, improving handoff and close rates via our in house sales team, and driving more customers to complete bookings entirely online. You will take full ownership of the customer journey, ensuring every interaction is intentional, measurable, and optimised for conversion. You will be responsible for creating and delivering a seamless omni channel experience for customers, defining how and when we engage across web, phone, SMS, email, WhatsApp, live chat, and any future channels. This role spans strategy and execution — you will define the roadmap, build the experimentation framework, and work hands on with data, design, engineering, marketing, and sales to deliver measurable improvements. This position suits someone who thrives in complexity, loves problem solving across disciplines, and is comfortable operating at the intersection of marketing, sales, data, and technology. We move quickly and expect the same pace and ownership from this role. You will have the autonomy to shape how CRO is done across the business and the accountability for delivering results. Key Responsibilities End to End Conversion Ownership ● Own conversion performance across the full customer lifecycle: initial website visit, lead submission, sales engagement, follow up, booking completion, and post booking experience. ● Identify friction, drop off points, and missed opportunities across both online and offline journeys. Omni Channel Strategy & Execution ● Design and implement a cohesive omni channel engagement strategy across web, phone, SMS, email, WhatsApp, live chat, and emerging channels. ● Define channel roles, timing, sequencing, and messaging to maximise engagement and conversion. ● Continuously test and optimise channel mix and handover points between automation and human interaction. Website & On Site CRO ● Lead all on site CRO initiatives including UX improvements, landing page optimisation, funnel optimisation, and form performance. ● Produce wireframes, user flows, and experiment concepts for developers and designers to build. ● Own and personally run A/B and multivariate testing strategy, execution, and analysis. From hypothesis to implementation to results. Offline Conversion Optimisation ● Optimise sales led conversion processes, including lead routing, call timing, follow up cadences, and messaging. ● Design and implement email and SMS contact strategies to improve response and close rates. ● Work closely with sales leadership to align incentives, scripts, and workflows with CRO insights. Data, Analytics & Experimentation ● Build and maintain a structured CRO experimentation framework, from hypothesis generation to testing and learnings. ● Analyse customer behaviour and performance trends using analytics platforms and direct data access. ● Write SQL queries to interrogate lead, sales, and conversion data, identifying actionable insights. ● Competent at working directly inside CRO and analytics tools (testing platforms, analytics, CRM, data warehouse) without reliance on others to execute. ● Translate data into clear hypotheses, prioritised tests, and measurable outcomes. Cross Functional Leadership ● Act as the central CRO owner working across marketing, sales, product, and engineering. ● Clearly communicate priorities, rationale, and expected outcomes to stakeholders. ● Ensure CRO initiatives are properly scoped, prioritised, and delivered at pace. Technology & Tooling ● Own or influence the CRO tech stack including analytics, testing tools, CRM workflows, communication platforms, and data sources. ● Work with engineering to ensure tracking, attribution, and experimentation infrastructure is robust and scalable. Reporting & Continuous Improvement ● Report clearly and concisely on conversion performance, test outcomes, and business impact. ● Build a culture of continual experimentation, learning, and optimisation across the business. ● Accountable for delivering measurable improvements in lead to booking conversion, sales close rate, and overall revenue impact, not just experimentation volume or activity. What We’re Looking For ● Proven experience owning and improving conversion across complex, multi touchpoint customer journeys. ● Strong understanding of both marketing led and sales led conversion models. ● Experience working closely with developers and technical teams to ship CRO improvements. ● Comfortable operating across online and offline conversion environments. ● Highly commercial mindset — focused on measurable impact, not vanity metrics. ● Self starter with strong ownership, urgency, and the ability to operate autonomously. ● Experience in fast paced, entrepreneurial, or high growth businesses. ● Excellent communicator, able to align multiple teams around conversion priorities. ● Naturally curious, analytical, and relentlessly focused on improving outcomes. Location and Flexibility Our offices are based on the South Coast (Tangmere and Portchester). The role can be office based, hybrid, or fully remote for the right candidate, with quarterly in person collaboration sessions encouraged. Why Join Us? ● Competitive salary and performance based bonus. ● Opportunity for equity participation for exceptional performers. ● Real ownership of the company wide planning and delivery framework. ● A culture that rewards initiative, pace, and performance. ● A growing international footprint across the UK and US markets. Benefits and Perks ● Competitive pension package. ● Comprehensive wellbeing and employee support programme. ● Discounted gym memberships and on demand GP service. ● Retail and leisure discounts across major brands. ● Regular team events, summer and Christmas parties. ● Free food Fridays and fresh fruit available for staff working on site. ● Free on site parking. ● Discounted garage services for vehicle owners. ● Counselling and financial assistance helplines
