Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Orthodontic Assistant to join our orthodontic team. The ideal candidate will support orthodontic procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain efficient clinic operations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on delivering exceptional orthodontic care, with responsibilities spanning chairside assisting, patient management, and clinical support. Prior experience with dental software systems and a strong understanding of dental terminology are highly valued.

Duties

  • Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance fittings
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans and medical imaging as needed
  • Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and post-treatment instructions
  • Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow
  • Monitor vital signs and assist with infection control protocols to maintain a sterile environment
  • Document procedures accurately in medical records and assist with medical coding when applicable
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist when needed
  • Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics to provide comprehensive support

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or Orthodontic Assistant in a clinical setting; experience with dental assisting is preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control standards in dental clinics
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures and operate 3D scanners or other medical imaging equipment
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and various dental specialties including pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics
  • Excellent chairside assisting skills with proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques
  • Ability to handle medical documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Certification in radiography or X-ray technology is preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively and work collaboratively within a team

Pay: $ $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 37.0 per week
