DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK

The Information Systems Analyst provides ongoing maintenance and support of the school system's Student Information system and other student centric Information Systems. 

  • Recommends and develops specifications for the necessary configuration changes and reports based on the needs of various departments around the Student centric systems.
  •  Prepares and executes tests to ensure that modifications to the system are adequately tested prior to implementation. 
  • Provides necessary support and develops training material and delivers training within the school system on the existing and new functionality the systems provide.

The Information Systems Analyst also provides ongoing support to other student data applications, such as the APS data warehouse application and APSNet (custom application to provide other student data functionality)

Work is performed under general supervision of the Director of Enterprise Solutions in the department of Information Services. Work is reviewed in terms of efficiency and effectiveness of operations, quality and timeliness of reports, and compatibility with departmental goals and objectives.

  • Configure and modify the Student Centric application(s) to meet business requirements.
  • Develop functional specifications and create report specifications needed by Instruction and Student Services departments, and school-based and central office staff.
  • Provide hands-on "just-in-time" support and assistance to users.
  • Develop content and deliver training to office staff and teachers on use of our applications.
  • Write simple data reports and extracts using sql.
  • Prepare and execute test plans to ensure that patches, modifications, and updates to the system are thoroughly tested before being placed into production.
  • Act as the liaison between all the user groups of Student Data (Data Entry or Data usage) and influence the design and development of solutions in and around the Student Centric Systems.
  • Design and roll out of any system solutions around SIS (Both Current and future) and also suggest efficiencies in various existing business processes around the district.
  • Review patches, modifications, and updates to the system to determine impact on current functionality. Recommend system changes for improved workflow, compliance, and/or increased functionality.
  • Create and maintain documentation (e.g., setup documentation, training documentation, user procedures).
  • As assigned, provide reporting as needed, including Monthly and Sep 30 Student Membership, State and Federal Reporting. 
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Instructional functions and other student related services, such as
  • Student Registration
  • Grade Book
  • Attendance
  • Report Cards
  • Grade Reporting & Transcript Policies and calculations
  • Student related data reporting to Federal and State authorities.
  • Experience implementing a Student Information System(s) or other student centric applications. K-12 experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL is desirable.
  • Extensive problem-solving experience working with all aspects of the technical system including troubleshooting and determining best alternatives for implementing new procedures.
  • Proven track record in delivering support and training on student centric applications.
  • Exceptional presentation, written and oral communication skills

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Possession of a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Instructional Technologies / Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for required education.
  2. Two years of progressively responsible and recent experience implementing or supporting a student centric application, Experience working in a K-12 environment is preferred.
