ABOUT THE Division

General description

We are looking to hire an experienced communications professional for the role of Program Management Specialist to help support the new Texas Education Freedom Accounts program created by Senate Bill 2, 89th Legislative Session, under the direction of the program manager of the ESA (Education Savings Accounts) division. Work involves developing and executing the strategic direction of the TEFA program with an emphasis on program communications with the public, state leadership, the press, coalitions and other stakeholders. Ensures consistent messaging with strategic focus to ensure the successful launch and operations of the TEFA program and identifies program gaps and proposes improvements or enhancements to support the program's mission. Work will also involve making presentations, responding to media requests, and representing the TEFA program at events. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications with experience working on education and school choice programs. The right candidate will be enthusiastic about contributing to the successful launch of the program, demonstrate policy and program knowledge, and be ready to contribute immediately in a fast-paced environment.

Work Hours

8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 40 hours. Weekend and/or late-evening work may be required. Actual work hours may change based on business need. Must be able to work flexible hours during legislative sessions and as needed. The position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in business, government, project management, public policy, or public administration or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience working on education policy or education savings
  • Austin, Texas, United States
