Job Description

Location: Outreach/Shelter (Ineligible for Telecommute days)

Position: Facilities Cleaning Technician

Salary Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Salary: $17 – $19 Hourly

Schedule: Monday- Friday 25-29 hours per week. (Includes Evenings)

Function: The Cleaning Technician will provide cleaning service for all facilities of a multi-site nonprofit organization. Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the Cleaning Technician assures program facilities are maintained in a manner that is compliant with all internal and external requirements and meets all health and safety standards. Will be responsible for cleaning outreach and residential facilities, common areas at all sites including but not limited to bathrooms, offices, dining facilities, and children's program areas.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain janitor/storage closet and company vehicles in a clean, organized and safe manner.
  • Maintain all equipment and supplies so they are clean and in a safe and operable condition.
  • Ensure proper labeling on all cleaning chemical containers.
  • Ensure proper dilution ratios of cleaning chemicals.
  • Notify Facilities Manager of cleaning supplies and/or restroom and breakroom supplies stock as required.
  • Sweep entryway inside and out, dust and remove cobwebs, remove fingerprints and soil from doors and glass, vacuum mats, mop floors.
  • Clean all public areas including lobby and reception area.
  • Straighten furniture – push chairs into desks and conference room tables, straighten chairs and resources in lobbies.
  • Empty all trash cans, replace liners and clean receptacles as needed.
  • Dust horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Clean tabletops, counter tops, sinks, microwaves and refrigerators in break rooms and drinking fountains throughout agency.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, restock supplies.
  • Sweep, vacuum, and mop all floor surfaces.
  • Clean up spills on floors and carpets as necessary (except blood spills – only trained personnel are required to clean blood spills).
  • Greet people working in the office in a polite, respectful and helpful manner to ensure positive relationships. Screen and route requests to supervisor, if necessary, provide timely and accurate customer service support.
  • Perform other duties as requested or required by management.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

· Prefer a minimum of 2 years' professional experience in providing cleaning services.

· Possess knowledge of the proper methods for cleaning and sanitizing to meet internal and external health and safety standards and has a working knowledge of the use of proper solutions such as safe commercial and non-toxic cleaning products.

· Possess the skills and ability to clean in a detailed and thorough manner.

· Ability to work efficiently and within strict timelines as needed to accommodate program needs.

· Possess the personal qualities necessary to develop and maintain effective working relationships; including demonstrated knowledge and skills and high standards for quality and ethical conduct in the work environment.

Job Requirements:

· Must be able to work mornings between 8am and 4pm, approximately 30 hours per week.

· The position may require the employee to travel to more than one location.

· Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.

  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 30lbs. as necessary.
  • Moderate physical activities, which may include pulling, pushing, lifting, reaching, bending and repetitive movements.
  • Demonstrated skill and proficiency with cleaning equipment.
  • Use of cleaning products, which require the use of protective gloves and eyewear.
  • Safety is of the utmost importance. Cleaning Technicians must work in a way that complies with all safety regulations required by House of Ruth and OSHA.

Education/Experience:

  • Education requirement: High School diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications:

· Possesses a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.

· Ability to pass criminal background check and submit to fingerprinting/live scan.
