Hardware Engineer - Indianapolis, IN

The Hardware Electrical Engineer I selected for this position will be part of a cross functional team focused on new development and sustenance of battery powered embedded electronics in residential security products. The selected candidate will perform electrical hardware engineering design, testing, and documentation for all project phases.

What You Will Do :

  • Highly motivated with knowledge in low power embedded electronic analog and digital circuit design.
  • Capable of effectively working with all engineering disciplines in a team environment with good understanding of cross functional design processes.
  • Ability to develop hardware design concepts and architectures for electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in engineering computer tools used for schematic capture (Altium Designer is a plus), ECAD design, simulation, and design analysis.
  • Familiarity with PCB layout, fabrication, and assembly processes is a plus.
  • Proficiency with common laboratory equipment such as hand solder instruments, DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other equipment.
  • Ability to direct and coordinate manufacturing of prototype and production designs is a plus.
  • Can support design reviews and creation of technical documentation for the project.
  • Capable of identifying system risks and developing mitigation plans.
  • Can quickly complete root cause analysis and implement corrective action to resolve design issues which may involve schematic changes, directing PCB layout changes, and/or component selection.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to engineering best practices and procedures.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, must be resourceful and flexible, and actively participate in decision making processes.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, effective presentation skills.
  • Possesses good organization skills with the ability to contribute to multiple projects.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Experience with PIC and ARM microcontrollers is a plus.
  • Familiarity with RFID, Proximity, and Smart card technologies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Z-Wave, Bluetooth Low Energy, and/or WiFi radio hardware is a plus.
  • Experience designing embedded electronics for harsh environmental conditions is a plus.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering
