About the Role
The Program Business Development Director is a key leader within the CRS program, focused on driving profitable growth and servicing the needs of the program ecosystem. This individual will be recognized as the thought leader for CRS in program business, responsible for discovering new programs, assisting in the management of MGAs, and overseeing program churn. The role serves as a liaison between program managers, MGAs, program reinsurance brokers, and internal CRS teams. Candidates must be able to understand and communicate the value of HSB products, pricing, services, and solutions, and articulate HSB's benefits in a way that resonates with customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities by building new relationships and expanding existing ones (Direct, Assumed, Embedded).
  • Manage all lines offered direct or assumed, including MGA discovery.
  • Utilize CRM tools to track program status and execution.
  • Analyze program market trends and churn to support retention and growth.
  • Coordinate program-specific conferences (e.g., Target Markets).
  • Foster internal collaboration across HSB/MRe teams (Portfolio, Embedded, Direct, Digital Enablement, Equipment Breakdown, Cyber, Energy, etc.).
  • Partner with the program operations team and expert tracks to enable and service individual programs.
  • Oversee new and existing programs to ensure long-term profitable growth and portfolio health.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in sales or marketing preferred.
  • At least seven years of professional experience in Property & Casualty or Surplus Line industries, or five years' experience with HSB Energy products, programs, and services.
  • Minimum three years of experience handling large, complex clients and accounts.

Knowledge and Skills

  • General knowledge of property casualty insurance.
  • Specific product line expertise (ED, EPL, etc.).
  • Ability to assess and understand workflows.
  • Business finance acumen.
  • Consultative selling and presentation skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HSB products, programs, and services.
  • Project management and territory/client management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including California. The salary ranged posted below applies to the Company's Hartford, CT location.

  • The salary range for this position is $ 138,400 - $203,000, plus opportunity for company bonus. In addition, the company provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
  • The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range of candidates hired. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
