IT Supervisor

Job Summary

Support existing and implementation of network technologies, server systems and related environments. Operate

environment, maintain integrity and ensure system uptime. Responsible for backup and restore and media handling. Ordering of hardware based on given standards, set-up and delivery of workplaces. Monitoring of availability, health and capacity of all local infrastructure systems. Coordinate external and internal IT specialists to support as required. Contribute in divisional IT projects. End-user support in scope of provided IT services. Keep inventory of tangible and non-tangible assets up to date. Contribute in planning process (hardware, software, budget, projects). Ensure proper planning, testing and implementation of changes to productive environment. Consult business according to given IT standards, systems and guidelines.

Responsibility

  • Manage servers in a Windows Active Directory environment (as assigned).
  • Work to ensure that each server and services hosted on it have 100% uptime.
  • Ensure stable network connectivity at the Linamar facility (both wired and unwired networks).
  • Manage and participate in various technical and systems related projects.
  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements and goals, and identify and resolve business issues, and document accordingly.
  • Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations & to support purchasing efforts.
  • Ensure that all servers meet security policies, as they apply to Linamar.
  • Respond to Help Desk Tickets as assigned within required SLA's.
    Coordinate with development/support teams to schedule and install software releases as needed.

Academic/Educational Requirements

Degree or diploma in Computer Science from a recognized university or college is preferred.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Read and understand policy and procedures manuals. Read equipment and software manuals, help files and technical bulletins. Read sections of software manuals to learn about advanced procedures and improvements to upgraded versions.
  • Discuss technical matters with co-workers, colleagues and suppliers. Discuss challenging software operations with co-workers and help develop instructions for users.
  • Inform and advise computer users with malfunctioning computer hardware and software.
  • Teach and assist workers in their work units.
  • Prepare, monitor and adjust work schedules and analyze data on user support services provided.
  • Evaluate information technology needs and users' software needs. Review experience with a number of relevant software applications and make recommendations.
  • Perform majority of tasks independently and coordinate efforts with co-workers to complete challenging repairs, assess the performance of work units and exchange information about new hardware and software.
  • Experience with the following technologies is a necessity: Windows Server 2019 and higher, Virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMWare), DNS, DHCP, network protocols, Backup systems, Microsoft client-software (Windows, Office, etc.), Storage Systems, MS SQL 2016 and higher, Active Directory, automatic software deployment tools, Cisco networking
  • The following skills are preferable: storage virtualization, Dell servers, System Center, administration of R&D construction applications (Catia, Abaqus, etc.), sound understanding of security and data privacy requirements, Extreme Networks, VoIP solutions.
  • The following personal and organizational skills are required: work as part of a team, work in a global enterprise organization, stick to common standards, understand synergetic architectures.
  • Willingness to travel
  • Continuous learning to update technical knowledge. Learn by reading solution logs, help files, manuals, newsletters and trade publications, and through trial and error.
  • Discuss computer malfunctions with co-workers and software suppliers.
  • Attend college and university courses and participate in training seminars.
  • Work in a well-ventilated, open concept office environment with adequate lighting and temperature.
  • Standard office equipment will be used such as computers, photocopiers, phone, etc.
  • Problem-solving activities or project contribution might require work outside regular office hours (weekends, nights, holidays).
    Other duties as assigned.
