Overview:
Our client, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Indiana, is seeking an experienced
Piping Project Engineer / Project Manager
to support the design, coordination, and execution of
process and piping systems
for a large-scale capital project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sanitary piping, process utilities, and GMP-compliant manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead piping design and installation activities for process and utility systems in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, from scope development and design reviews through construction, commissioning, and turnover.
- Manage piping contractors, engineering firms, and vendors to ensure alignment with design standards and project timelines.
- Review and approve P&IDs, isometrics, line lists, and material specifications for stainless steel and hygienic piping systems.
- Ensure piping layouts meet process, maintenance, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate with Process Engineering, CQV, and Facilities teams to ensure system integration and qualification readiness.
- Track project schedules, budgets, and change orders while maintaining compliance with GMP and safety standards.
- Support FATs/SATs, walkdowns, punch-list closure, and turnover documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in process or hygienic piping design and project management within pharma, biotech, or food industries.
- Strong understanding of ASME BPE standards, welding, and clean-in-place (CIP)/steam-in-place (SIP) systems.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and interface with construction and validation personnel.
- Excellent communication, organization, and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar design software preferred.

- Location: Indiana (onsite, with potential for hybrid flexibility depending on phase).
