The Village Beach Market (VBM) is an upscale market in Vero Beach looking for energetic and joyful people who are willing to share our passion for quality food while providing excellent Customer Service. We are a 3rd generation family owned business that has been in the food business since 1951. Our purpose is to honor God in all we do, serve others, pursue excellence and grow profitable. We do this by valuing the relationships with our staff and the community. Therefore, we strive to treat everyone like family and provide our customers with the highest quality products and service.

Position responsibilities:

To our Customer

• High level of prompt / friendly customer service with a genuine "thank you."
• Greets and waits on customers, including slicing, cutting, weighing, packaging, and pricing products.
• Consistently grow basic food and cooking knowledge, along with product knowledge, to better assist and make suggestions to customers.
• Answers phones and takes special orders, with care for detail and correctness.

For our Product

• Maintain department appearance by displaying proper signage and well-merchandised product.

• Follow VBM core recipes when preparing products to ensure a consistent outcome.

• Keeps refrigerated cases and other displays stocked and properly faced in accordance with department standards.

• Assists with inventory, putting away deliveries, facing, filling and rotating merchandise for freshness.
• Observes temperatures within cooler and cases and reports failures to management.
• Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines.

As a Team Member

• Support, encourage and respect other team members.

• Clean appearance & good hygiene.

• Be highly motivated and performs duties in a safe and efficient manner.

• Comply with VBM Policies and Work Rules, as well as, federal and state laws.
• Maintain excellent communication and listening skills with managers and teammates to ensure efficient operations.

Work Environment

• Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, frequent lifting, and sometimes reaching and lifting above shoulder height, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment.
• The average weight range of items lifted is 1-10 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 35 pounds rarely.
• May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
• Work includes the safe and proper handling of basic tools & equipment
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply & divide)
• Must be over 18 years of age

Job Type: Part-time, Full-Time (Shorter shifts of 4 hours available)

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer service experience, preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
• Experience operating a cash register
• Experience working in a coffee shop

Education: High school or equivalent

Location: Vero Beach, FL

Pay: $ $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 38 per week
