Position Summary
Stable Recovery is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals in recovery
from addiction through the healing connection between humans and horses and meaningful
workforce development. The Development Director plays a pivotal role in sustaining and
expanding the financial resources that make our mission possible. Reporting to the Director of
External Affairs, the Development Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and
managing and supporting a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes annual giving,
grants, events, and sponsorships.
This individual will cultivate meaningful relationships with donors and community partners,
provide support and oversight to the Outreach and Marketing and Social Media Coordinators and
share the transformative impact of Stable Recovery's programs, and help secure the resources
needed to strengthen and grow our mission.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Leadership
● Support our multi-faceted fundraising plan in alignment with the organization's strategic
goals and annual budget.
● Collaborate with the Director of External Affairs to integrate fundraising with
communications, marketing, and community engagement initiatives.
● Set annual giving and event revenue goals and track progress through data-informed
reporting and analysis.
● Identify opportunities for new funding streams and donor engagement initiatives.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
● Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with individual donors, foundations,
and corporate partners.
● Manage and support our donor cycle—identification, cultivation, solicitation, and
stewardship.
● Work closely with the CEO and Director of External Affairs to prepare for and participate
in high-level donor meetings and presentations.
● Develop compelling impact stories and donor communications that highlight the power
of equine therapy and recovery transformation.
Grants & Corporate Partnerships
● Research and oversight of grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government
sources.
● Maintain a grants calendar to ensure timely submissions, reporting, and stewardship.
● Cultivate and manage relationships with grantors, sponsors, and corporate partners.
Events & Campaigns
● Lead planning and execution of special events, including fundraising galas, donor
appreciation events, and community awareness activities.
● Oversee annual giving and digital fundraising campaigns, ensuring cohesive messaging
and engagement.
Operations & Collaboration
● Maintain and support efforts to create accurate donor records and reporting systems using
the organization's CRM database( Bloomerang).
● Collaborate with program staff to gather stories, data, and outcomes that support
fundraising and marketing efforts.
● Support the Board of Directors and Development Committee in their fundraising roles
through training, communication, and engagement opportunities.
● Uphold the highest ethical standards in all fundraising and donor relations activities.
Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
● 4+ years of progressively responsible fundraising experience in nonprofit organizations.
● Demonstrated success in annual giving campaigns, grant solicitation, event fundraising,
and donor relations.
● Detail oriented.
● Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
● Exceptional writing ability and skill in communicating mission-driven impact.
● Experience with donor management software (Bloomerang, Q-Give)
● Passion for the mission of Stable Recovery and an understanding of addiction recovery
and/or equine-assisted therapy is strongly preferred.
● Ability to work collaboratively in a small, mission-focused team environment.
Pay: $50, $60,000.00 per year
