Reading & Language Arts lays the foundation for students' success in all subjects, including math, coding, and science. It also helps them acquire important life skills that will serve them throughout their life.

What is an Online Academic Writing Teacher?

We are looking for a passionate teacher for our online academic writing class. Our Online language arts teachers will assure the development of relevant competencies such as critical thinking skills and necessary writing skills throughout the course. Our teachers will be leading a small class of 3rd~ 8th-grade students grouped by different levels/grades.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field OR Current college students majoring in education.
• Comfortable using laptops, computers, and classroom technology.
• Must be able to commit for at least 6 months.
• Class times are provided Tuesday to Saturday 3pm - 7pm (US Pacific Time)
• Must have better than 8Mbps download/8Mbps upload internet speed. (Test Zoom works with 4~5 participants and sharing screen works for 30min)
• Understanding of classroom management and class facilitation.

Preferred conditions:

• Experience with children
• More than 1 year of Elementary/Middle school teaching experience in the past 3 years.
• TESOL certification and/or a teaching certificate is a plus (Not required)
• A Masters degree is a plus

Main duties: At least 3 classes/week(weekend or weekdays evening time) for at least 6 months

• Teach through our platform using text book - Spectrum textbook
• Conduct live online writing classes, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Teach various writing styles, including creative writing, academic essays, narratives, persuasive writing, and informational writing
• Utilize effective teaching strategies to explain grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, sentence structure, and writing techniques.
• Guide students in brainstorming, organizing, drafting, revising, and editing their written work.
• Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, ensuring every student can progress at their own pace.
• Provide feedback on writing assignments/ provide evaluations for the student.
• Evaluate student writing assignments, providing constructive feedback and actionable insights to improve their writing skills.
• Assess student progress through quizzes, projects, and other assessment tools, identifying areas for improvement and celebrating successes.
• Maintain detailed records of student performance, attendance, and participation, regularly updating parents and guardians on progress.
