Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and knowledgeable part-time Math Tutors to provide personalized math instruction to students in a one-on-one and small-group, in-person setting at our Kennesaw tutoring center. Tutors support students in building foundational skills, improving academic performance, and gaining confidence in math.

This position offers flexible part-time hours, making it ideal for college students, educators, or professionals seeking supplemental income.

As part of the hiring process, candidates are required to successfully complete a math assessment to demonstrate subject mastery and pass a background check prior to employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging and effective in-person math instruction to K–12 students
  • Explain mathematical concepts clearly and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs
  • Assist students with homework, test preparation, and skill reinforcement
  • Track student progress and communicate observations as needed
  • Maintain a positive, encouraging, and professional learning environment
  • Attend and actively participate in required trainings, meetings, and professional development sessions
  • Follow center instructional guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with staff to support student success and daily operations

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of K–12 math concepts
  • College coursework or degree in math, education, engineering, or a related field
  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience preferred
  • Experience with advanced math courses and/or standardized test preparation (SAT/ACT) is a bonus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional
  • Ability to work with students of varying skill levels and learning styles

Screening Requirements

  • Successful completion of a math assessment as part of the hiring process
  • This position involves working in an environment that serves children; therefore, employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, in accordance with federal and Georgia law
  • Employees must adhere to all student safety, supervision, and professional conduct policies
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment is required

Compensation & Growth

  • Hourly pay: $15–$25 per hour, based on experience, education, and grade level
  • Flexible part-time scheduling, primarily during after-school and early evening hours
