Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Restaurant Shift Leader to oversee daily operations in a fast-paced dining environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive food service knowledge, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role is vital in ensuring smooth shift transitions, maintaining high standards of food quality and safety, and supporting staff development within our restaurant. Prior experience in hospitality management, food safety, and team supervision is essential to succeed in this position.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate restaurant staff during assigned shifts, ensuring efficient service delivery.
- Oversee food preparation and presentation to meet quality standards, including cooking and food handling procedures.
- Manage POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for order processing, cash handling, and sales reconciliation.
- Control inventory levels, monitor stock rotation, and assist with ordering supplies to prevent shortages.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards across the kitchen and dining areas.
- Train new staff members on restaurant policies, food safety practices, and customer service expectations.
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints promptly, and ensure a positive dining experience.
- Assist in managing restaurant operations including budgeting, staffing schedules, and overall food management.
- Support kitchen management tasks such as food production coordination and catering services when necessary.
- Lead by example in maintaining a clean, organized workspace conducive to high-quality service.
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within quick service or casual dining environments.
- Strong knowledge of POS systems including Aloha POS and Micros POS; proficient cash handling skills.
- Excellent leadership abilities with prior supervising or management experience in restaurants or hospitality settings.
- Skilled in staff training & development, team management, and interviewing potential team members.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations; experience with food handling certifications preferred.
- Ability to manage shift operations efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Experience with inventory control, budgeting, and food production processes such as catering or banquet services is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication skills with a focus on hospitality management and customer satisfaction.
- Leadership qualities that foster teamwork, training & development initiatives, and operational excellence across all restaurant functions.
