Job Description:

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Technical Manager to lead and optimise technical and food‑safety operations within our retail division. This role is central to driving innovation, ensuring compliance, enhancing customer experience, and supporting the efficient delivery of retail services across the UK!

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery
Lead the adoption and implementation of Agility core practices to improve workflows and project delivery. Apply strong analytical thinking to identify key trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for technical and food‑safety improvement across the retail network. Align technical initiatives with commercial objectives to deliver measurable business value. Maintain a deep understanding of industry developments and champion procedures and emerging technologies.

Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure robust food‑safety standards across all retail operations. Oversee HACCP compliance, ensuring all sites meet mandatory requirements. Support teams in implementing safe, consistent, and legally compliant food‑handling practices. Provide guidance on food‑safety risks, controls, and continuous improvement.

Customer & Data Strategy
Embed customer‑centric thinking into all technical and food‑safety solutions. Use customer data insights to inform strategies and support personalised retail offerings. Present complex technical information clearly through effective data visualisation and interpretation.

Collaboration & Communication
Develop communication strategies that engage both technical and non‑technical partners. Promote digital collaboration tools to strengthen cross‑functional partnerships and enhance team efficiency. Contribute to a culture of continuous learning through mentoring and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.

Partnerships & Commercial Management
Lead negotiation planning and preparation for technical contracts and vendor agreements. Build and maintain strong relationships with technology partners and key stakeholders. Provide technical insight to support Retail Category Management, product optimisation, and retail territory development.

Training & Operational Support
Design and deliver effective technical and food‑safety training programmes for frontline teams. Support operational excellence across retail sites through robust technical solutions and guidance.

Essential qualifications

  • Experience in a technical leadership role, ideally within retail or food‑related operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Agility practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Commercial acuity with a record of delivering value through technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
  • Knowledge of customer data analysis and its application in retail strategy.
  • Proficiency in data visualisation and interpretation tools.
  • Experience with digital collaboration platforms.
  • Understanding of industry trends, technologies, and procedures.
  • Ability to mentor teams and promote knowledge sharing.
  • Strong negotiation planning and preparation capabilities.
  • Experience in partner relationship management.
  • Familiarity with Retail Category Management and retail territory development.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver technical and food‑safety training programmes.
  • HACCP certification – Level 4 preferred, Level 3 minimum (mandatory).
  • A couple of years’ experience in food‑safety management or food‑safety‑related operations (mandatory).

Desirable

  • Experience contributing to cross‑functional retail initiatives.
  • A strong interest in continuous improvement and innovation.
