We are seeking a dedicated *Commercial Hollow Metal Door & Frame Estimator* to champion our Division 8 product line, complementing our established automatic door and specialty hardware services across the Midwest.
This pivotal role is ideal for a professional with proven expertise in commercial doors, frames, and related architectural products. *What You’ll Do*
As a Commercial Hollow Metal Estimator, you will manage the bidding process for doors, frames, and hardware (Division 8), ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. Your core responsibilities will include:
*Bid Preparation:* Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and addenda to prepare complete, accurate, and timely estimates and pricing for Division 8 scope.
*Quantity Take-Offs:* Performing detailed material take-offs specifically for hollow metal doors, frames, wood doors, and architectural hardware.
*Vendor Sourcing:* Communicating with multiple suppliers and manufacturers to secure the most competitive material and fabrication pricing.
*Submittals & Documentation:* Preparing shop drawings, hardware schedules, technical documentation, and submittal packages for awarded projects.
*Project Handoff:* Collaborating closely with Project Managers and Sales to ensure a seamless transition of awarded projects, verifying scopes and schedules.
*Value Engineering:* Identifying and proposing cost-saving alternatives and material substitutions for clients without compromising quality or design.
*System Maintenance:* Updating and maintaining estimating software (ProTech, Comsense, or similar) with current pricing and project data.
*What You Bring*
* *Expertise in Division 8:* 3+ years of experience estimating commercial hollow metal doors, frames, wood doors, and architectural hardware.
* *Blueprint Proficiency:* Proven ability to read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, and door schedules—this is a must!
* *Code Knowledge:* Familiarity with building codes, fire ratings, life safety (NFPA 80/101), and ADA requirements as they pertain to door openings is highly preferred.
* *Credentials (Asset):* AHC (Architectural Hardware Consultant), CDC (Certified Door Consultant), or CET designation is considered a strong asset.
* *Technical Skills:* Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and experience with industry-specific estimating software.
* *Meticulous Attention to Detail:* A commitment to precision and thoroughness in all bid submissions.
* *Communication:* Excellent verbal and written skills for effective collaboration with clients, vendors, and the internal operations team.
