Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, ensure food safety standards are met, and support the kitchen staff in delivering high-quality meals. This role is perfect for individuals with a passion for cooking, food handling, and creating delicious dishes in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in dietary departments, catering, or restaurant settings is highly valued.

Duties

  • Prepare ingredients and assemble components for menu items according to recipes and standards
  • Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, slicing, and cooking various foods
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
  • Support kitchen staff with plating and presentation of dishes
  • Help with inventory management by organizing supplies and notifying supervisors of stock needs
  • Ensure all food handling procedures comply with health regulations
  • Assist in menu planning and portion control to maintain consistency and quality
  • Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts

Experience

  • Previous experience in a dietary department, dietary aide role, or restaurant kitchen preferred
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills including knife skills and meal assembly
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
  • Experience with menu planning, food service, and catering operations is a plus
  • Background in the food industry or culinary experience will enhance performance in this role
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $ $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
