Temporary Position- Dishwasher/Kitchen Assistant

Highland Valley Elder Services Nutrition Program is hiring for a temporary (approximately 3 months) position for a Kitchen Assistant/Dishwasher to cover a medical leave. Hours are Monday-Friday 8am-1pm.

Duties

• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment promptly and thoroughly to ensure cleanliness and readiness for use.
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as assembling ingredients, or portioning food items.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas in accordance with sanitation standards.
• Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and compliance with health regulations.
• Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating effectively with kitchen staff and other departments.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service, restaurant work, or hospitality environments is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with food handling safety standards and sanitation practices.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy items, standing for extended periods, and bending or stooping as necessary.

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $19.40 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
