About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our Advanced Cluster Security team at Red Hat. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in developing new features and enhancing core backend services of the Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (RHACS) platform. Your expertise will directly impact how our customers securely operate the largest OpenShift and Kubernetes clusters globally. You will have the opportunity to work on complex distributed systems, contribute to scalable API development, and improve the overall architecture of our security solutions. This role offers a unique chance to influence product direction, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive innovation in cloud security technologies.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in writing high-quality, maintainable software
• Strong proficiency in Go or similar programming languages
• Experience with designing and building extensible, maintainable APIs
• Knowledge of scalable distributed systems architecture
• Familiarity with OpenShift or Kubernetes, including policies, Helm charts, and admission controllers
• Experience delivering software using a "design document-first" approach
• Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and subject-matter experts
• Openness to learning new technologies and concepts
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues
• Understanding of cloud-native security principles and practices

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and test core backend services and APIs for the RHACS platform
• Work across product teams to optimize data collection, event processing, ingestion, storage, and API presentation layers
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to shape, develop, and enhance features
• Take ownership of key product areas, leading their design, implementation, and ongoing health
• Assist Customer Support teams in troubleshooting and resolving customer issues efficiently
• Contribute to improving engineering standards, tooling, and development processes
• Build your personal technical brand and strengthen the company's reputation through blog posts and open-source contributions
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and incorporate them into product development as appropriate
