Kitchen Helper

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Kitchen Helper with a minimum of one year of Southern cooking experience to join our team. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a fast-paced kitchen, understands the fundamentals of Southern-style preparation and is passionate about delivering high-quality food.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily food preparation, including chopping, seasoning, and prepping ingredients for Southern-style dishes.
• Support cooks and chef with cooking tasks including frying, sauteing, and operating basic kitchen equipment.
• Follow Velvet's recipes, portion standards and food safety procedures.
• Always maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and cookware as needed.
• Receive, unpack, and store deliveries properly.
• Setting up and breaking down kitchen stations daily.
• Ensure proper labeling, rotation and storage of food items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by kitchen management.

Qualifications:

Minimum of one year experience in a kitchen environment specializing in Southern or soul food cuisine. Basic knowledge of traditional Southern dishes (e.g., greens, mac & cheese, cornbread, fried items, gravies, etc..). Ability to follow directions and work independently in a team environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift-up to 30-40 lbs. Dependable, punctual, and motivated to learn.

Preferred Qualities:

Experience in a catering or high-volume kitchen. Positive attitude and willingness to grow within the team.

Pay: $ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 35.0 per week
