Summary of Position
Shift: M-F 8:30-5:30 - some weekends on rotation.
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety throughout the assisted living community, including resident rooms and all common areas. This role supports the residents' overall well-being by providing a comfortable, sanitary, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Routine Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks in resident rooms and all common areas (hallways, lobbies, dining room, activity spaces, public restrooms, etc.).
- Duties include dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, and wiping down surfaces.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize all bathroom fixtures, including toilets, showers/tubs, and sinks, ensuring a hygienic environment.
- Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, windowsills, and glass surfaces.
- Empty and sanitize trash and waste receptacles daily.
- Laundry and Linen Management:
- Collect, wash, dry, fold, and distribute resident personal laundry, linens, and towels in a timely and gentle manner.
- Change and make beds, including bed linens, as scheduled or requested.
- Follow all proper laundering procedures to prevent cross-contamination and maintain resident clothing integrity.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Strictly adhere to all infection control and universal precautions policies, especially when cleaning areas contaminated with bodily fluids or infectious waste.
- Use all cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly, according to manufacturer instructions and facility guidelines.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure all areas are addressed regularly.
- Perform safety checks while cleaning to remove hazards (e.g., clutter, spills, frayed carpets) that could lead to falls.
- Facility Upkeep and Communication:
- Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of all cleaning, laundry, and restroom supplies in assigned areas; report shortages to the supervisor.
- Promptly report any needed maintenance or repairs (e.g., leaky faucets, burned-out lights, broken equipment) to the supervisor.
- Clean and prepare vacated rooms for new residents.
- Interact with residents, staff, and visitors in a courteous, respectful, and compassionate manner, ensuring resident privacy is maintained at all times.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience (e.g., 1 year) in housekeeping or custodial work,
- Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, products, and equipment.
- Familiarity with standard infection control and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work independently.
- Physical ability to perform manual work, including bending, stooping, standing for long periods, and lifting up to (Insert X) pounds.
- A compassionate, patient, and caring demeanor when interacting with elderly residents.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
Pay: $ $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
