Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing exceptional patient service, supporting clinical operations, and managing administrative tasks within a dynamic medical environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in outpatient settings, hospital medicine, or urgent care, with a strong foundation in medical terminology, patient care, and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Knowledge of dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, and trauma center experience is highly valued. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced setting that emphasizes patient-centered care and clinical excellence.
Duties
- Greet patients and assist with check-in and check-out procedures efficiently and professionally
- Collect patient information, including vital signs, medical history, and medication lists
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs and performing basic assessments
- Assist healthcare providers with procedures such as injections, medication administration, or X-ray preparation
- Document patient encounters accurately within EHR systems using appropriate medical terminology and ICD coding
- Support clinical workflows in various specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or emergency medicine
- Manage appointment scheduling, patient intake processes, and follow-up communications
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas and equipment
- Support administrative functions such as answering phones, verifying insurance information, and managing patient records
- Assist with inpatient care activities if applicable in hospital or ICU settings
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar outpatient or hospital setting; clinic experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration
- Experience working with EHR systems and medical administrative support tasks
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or trauma centers are advantageous
- Familiarity with specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, or surgical environments including OR experience preferred
- Ability to handle diverse responsibilities across outpatient clinics, inpatient units (PICU), or Level I/II trauma centers
- Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care delivery
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and intake procedures
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or emergency departments
