Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Advancement Support Specialist provides short‑term capacity across three critical workstreams—fundraising prospect research, development fund and file management, and donor stewardship—to stabilize operations during current vacancies. The role partners closely with Prospect Development, Advancement Services, and Major Gifts to keep the pipeline moving, maintain data integrity, and ensure timely donor touches and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Prospect Research & Prospect Development (approx. 50%)
- Under the guidance of the Prospect Development team at the UNC System office, conduct targeted research to identify and qualify using approved tools (e.g., Raiser's Edge, LexisNexis, Donor Search) and prepare concise research briefs for gift officers.
- Assist with the maintenance of prospect records, attributes, and proposal data in Raiser's Edge per Prospect Development standards.
Development Fund and Files Management (approx. 35%)
- Assist with the file imaging project, digitizing and indexing donor hardcopy files in ImageNow
- Assis with the fund recoding project.
Donor Stewardship (10%)
- Assist with the execution of customized stewardship plans as outlined by the gift officers (e.g. ordering naming plaques, customized event swag, etc.)
- Selecting, ordering, and maintaining an inventory of swag for Development Officers to gift to donors.
- Assist with major and/or planned giving stewardship mailings
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Experience with Raiser's Edge, AlumniFinder, LexisNexis, AlmaConnect, DonorSearch, ImageNow
Prior work in higher‑ed advancement or non‑profit fundraising operations.
Excellent written communication for donor‑facing materials and internal notes.
