Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Bridge Project Design Engineer IV for employment in Phoenix, Arizona.

At AECOM, we're delivering a better world. This role will provide the opportunity to directly support transformational projects including the I-25 and I-15 DB projects. Design has begun and will extend over the coming years, providing a unique opportunity for multiple career-defining roles on the project. The job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by other.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
  • Prepares technical specification sections.
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Active PE license.
  • Ability to pass MVR check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering degree.
  • 6 + years of bridge design and plan development experience
  • Project experience in Arizona related to AzDOT and/or local bridge design project work.
  • Proficiency in software such as MicroStation, LEAP Concrete/Bridge, MathCAD, and MDX
  • Knowledge of 3D finite element software such as CSiBridge, MIDAS, SAP2000, etc. is a plus.
  • Experience in the plan production of transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing.
  • Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software)
  • Knowledgeable of standard engineering practices, techniques and applicable codes
  • Ability to do occasional field work (site visits and inspections) and travel.
