Activities Aide

Autumn Meadows of Cahokia is a skilled nursing community that strives to provide clinical excellence and compassionate care to our residents. Our community is in need of an Activity Aide.

Candidates should desire to be a part of a quality health care team with emphasis on supporting the mission and vision of our facility in its efforts to support our residents, family members, co-workers and the general public.

Job Summary: Assists the Activity Director in the implementation of a quality activity program by motivating others and emphasizing teamwork.

Duties:

• Assist residents to, from and with activities to enable maximum participation.
• Record activity attendance and participation in both group and individual programs.
• Lead assigned groups and individual activities.
• Assist to maintain volunteer records.
• Coordinate arts and crafts program for all levels of residents.
• Review resident activity care plan and assist in providing activities consistent with the plan.
• Assist in seasonal and holiday decorating of facility.
• Provide each resident with a current activity calendar.
• Assist in maintaining an on-going program for resident birthday recognition.
• Participate in community outings and special events as requested.
• Escort residents to outside appointments, as needed.
• Observe and report needed repairs and service issues, such as broken, defective, or lost equipment and environmental issues.
• All other duties as assigned by the Activity Director.

Qualifications
- Long term care and home & community care experience
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with residents and staff
- Event planning expertise to organize engaging activities for seniors
- Nursing home or assisted living experience preferred
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care, and dementia care practices
- Ability to create and implement care plans tailored to individual needs
- Understanding of ADLs and aging issues counseling
- Certification in recreational therapy or caregiving is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
