Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager oversees all financial operations of a government-funded nonprofit, ensuring accurate accounting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with federal, state, and local grant requirements. This role manages the accounting team, leads the month-end close, coordinates audits (including the Single Audit), and provides financial insights that support organizational stability and mission impact.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Month-End Close

• Lead monthly close, ensuring timely reconciliations and accurate financial statements.
• Maintain the chart of accounts, grant coding, and financial system data integrity.
• Prepare cash-flow forecasts and monitor liquidity tied to reimbursement-based grants. Grant & Fund Accounting
• Ensure compliance with 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance), including allowable costs, cost allocation, procurement, and documentation requirements.
• Manage budgeting, tracking, reporting, and revenue recognition for government grants, restricted funds, and multi-source funding.
• Oversee time & effort reporting, payroll allocation, and grant-specific expenditure reviews. Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls
• Lead all audit processes, including the Single Audit (A-133), financial statement audit, and grantor monitoring visits.
• Prepare SEFA schedules, supporting documentation, and corrective action plans as needed.
