The Category Support Specialist is responsible for executing the setup and maintenance of product data in support of new item introductions, item changes, test products, and promotional execution. This role ensures that all required information is accurately captured, submitted, and processed through relevant internal systems. Working under the guidance of the Coordinator and Supervisor, the Specialist plays a hands-on role in delivering timely, accurate, and complete item data in alignment with merchandising strategies.
This position is distinct from the Category Support Coordinator, who oversees task assignments, submission tracking, and training. The Specialist focuses on the execution of tasks, ensuring data integrity and submission accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
- Execute new item setup processes, ensuring all product data (e.g., UPCs, case quantity, cost, descriptions, delivery configuration) is accurate and complete.
- Prepare and submit item setup forms and product information change requests through internal systems.
- Extract and synchronize product data using SQL, Microsoft Access, and proprietary 7-Eleven platforms.
- Collaborate with vendors to collect necessary documentation and clarify discrepancies.
- Support test item rollouts, item replacements, and promotional initiatives by ensuring timely data readiness.
- Utilize advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, IF statements) to review and align product data across systems.
- Review item records for accuracy, escalate issues to the Coordinator or Supervisor when inconsistencies arise.
- Support item maintenance through timely updates and data validations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of promotional structures and funding types (e.g., scanbacks, billbacks, RDAs).
- Assist in ensuring proper documentation and funding data is captured during promotional setup.
- Contribute to data quality by identifying root causes of item errors and recommending corrective actions.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in retail product data entry, item setup, or merchandising support.
- High attention to detail with the ability to work accurately in a high-volume environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL and Microsoft Access is preferred.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with vendors and internal teams.
- Familiarity with retail/inventory systems, cost structures, and promotional funding is a plus.
- Ability to follow established processes, meet deadlines, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
