Summary:
The Group Exercise Instructor leads and instructs various group fitness classes, ensuring participants perform exercises safely and effectively while tailoring the workout to different fitness levels and abilities, all while maintaining a motivating and inclusive atmosphere within the class.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrating proper form and technique for each exercise to minimize injury risk.
- Actively observing participants during class to ensure correct form and address any safety concerns.
- Delivers a range of exercise classes offering variations and adjustments to exercises to accommodate different fitness levels and limitations.
- Encouraging and supporting class members throughout the workout to maintain energy and engagement.
- Ensuring proper equipment usage, addressing any potential hazards, and providing guidance on safe exercise practices.
- Recognizing and addressing individual needs, such as injuries or medical conditions, by providing appropriate modifications.
- Creating a positive and welcoming environment to foster class participation and client retention.
- Prepares appropriate equipment, music, and handouts for each class.
- Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs.
- Ensures that safety standards are met and that department and facility policies are adhered to.
- Comply with the company's drug-free and tobacco/nicotine-free policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Experience/Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience leading group exercise classes (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate members of various fitness levels.
- Ability to adapt exercises for diverse participants and address individual needs.
- Knowledge of proper exercise techniques, safety guidelines, and fitness equipment.
- Customer service-oriented, with a focus on member satisfaction and engagement.
- Must be able to legally work in the USA.
Education and Certification(s)/License(s):
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Certified Group Fitness Instructor certification from a recognized organization.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
