Why does the job exist?
This position exists to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the organization¿s computing environment by serving as a primary point of contact for technical support. Under general supervision, the Information Technology (IT) Support Technician provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 assistance to end users, helping them resolve hardware, software, and basic network issues that affect productivity and service delivery. By diagnosing problems, performing routine maintenance tasks, and escalating more complex issues appropriately, the role helps maintain smooth day-to-day business operations.
How does it get done?
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and basic network issues, escalating complex problems when needed
- Serve as a primary help desk resource, offering remote and on-site troubleshooting to maintain user productivity and service continuity
- Monitor and support the operation of computer systems and peripheral devices to ensure efficient, secure, and reliable performance
- Assist with routine system tasks such as updates, backups, and error monitoring, following established procedures and documenting system events
- Offer technical guidance to users and may provide support or direction to lower-level staff to enhance overall service quality
- Collaborate with specialized IT teams by triaging issues, dispatching work appropriately, and supporting system testing or maintenance activities

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of related work experience in providing technical support to end users for computer hardware, software, and/or network-related problems. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course certification.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required.
