Yard Truck Driver Class A CDL

Work Schedule

Saturday – Tuesday 1:30pm – 12:00am

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate yard tractors, hostlers, or terminal trucks to safely move trailers within the yard and between loading/unloading docks.
• Spot trailers accurately and efficiently as directed by yard management or dock personnel.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment and report any defects or safety concerns.
• Maintain communication with dispatch, warehouse, and other drivers via radio or handheld devices.
• Ensure trailers are properly secured and positioned per safety and operational standards.
• Accurately complete and maintain logs, trailer movement records, and yard inventory reports.
• Follow established company policies, DOT regulations, and OSHA safety protocols at all times.
• Support yard and dock staff as needed to maintain efficient operations.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license Class A CDL
• Minimum age: 21 years.
• Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years.
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and physical assessment.

Desired Experience:

• 1+ year of yard hostling, switcher, or local driving experience in a logistics, distribution, or transportation environment.
• Familiarity with trailer types (dry van) and yard management systems.
• Experience backing trailers into tight dock positions is highly preferred.

Physical and Scheduling Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb in and out of equipment frequently throughout the shift.
• Lift and move up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Flexible to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs.
• Must be able to work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Safety & Compliance:

• Strict adherence to all safety guidelines, including safe vehicle operation, speed limits, and trailer securement.
• Participation in regular safety briefings, equipment checks, and compliance audits.
• Ongoing training in DOT, OSHA, and company-specific safety procedures.
