Join our thriving logistics team in Detroit, Michigan as a Forklift Operator. We are looking for skilled and safety-conscious individuals to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. This role is integral to the efficient operation of our warehouse, ensuring that materials are handled safely and effectively. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for inspecting and performing routine maintenance on your forklift, reporting any issues to ensure operational readiness. Adherence to all safety regulations and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is non-negotiable. You will work in a dynamic and sometimes fast-paced environment, often coordinating with other warehouse personnel to fulfill orders and manage incoming and outgoing shipments. Experience with various types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) is highly desirable. A strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols and best practices for material handling is essential. Your ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently will directly contribute to the productivity and success of our logistics operations. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move materials within the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper placement and securing of goods.
- Perform pre-operation inspections of forklifts and report any defects.
- Stack and store merchandise in designated areas, ensuring stability and safety.
- Assist with inventory counts and verification as needed.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow loading and unloading procedures accurately.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Contribute to a culture of safety and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification or license.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling.
- Understanding of safety regulations and best practices for forklift operation.
- Ability to inspect and perform basic maintenance on forklifts.
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to adhering to safety guidelines and wearing required PPE.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
