WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR – FULL TIME

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all Warehouse operations are run efficiently, safely, meets the delivery schedules and Sunrise Quality Programs. This position is responsible for directing overall Warehouse efficiencies in a cost-effective manner and for managing all resources and assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Through an "On the Floor" management mindset, ensure individual and team compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards for people safety, food safety, product quality, cost control, waste reduction, on-time delivery and service to team cohorts.
  • Understand, promote, follow and ensure team compliance for all company and regulatory standards including, but not limited to, Provincial Employment Standards and Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS), Food Safety (GMP/SQF), Safe Operating Procedures (SOP's), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
  • Ensure that all staff under your direction are equipped with and are using the proper personal protective equipment as required.
  • Report all safety concerns to a member of your Joint Health and Safety Committee and your Supervisor/Manager.
  • Provide leadership for employee relations through effective and consistent communications, coaching, training, and development and evaluation of employee performance for your team

Warehouse Duties

  • Coordinate team activities through effective scheduling, assignment of work, setting of priorities, and delegating of work.
  • Manage and direct Warehouse to ensure to meet fill rates, minimize picking errors, minimizing inventory adjustments and shortages.
  • Recruit and train team members, establishing a highly motivated, flexible, quick-responding and quality work force
  • Oversee output of your team, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards, production schedules and customer needs, including participation in interdepartmental benchmarking.
  • Ensure company assets are maintained and repaired appropriately so as to maximize asset life and lower asset life cost.
  • Monitor CPC Pallet usage weekly and make timely recommendations for additional ones as needed for operations to conserve CPC Pallet return costs.
  • Ensure effective and accurate coordination of shipping arrangements with trucking company(s), including but not limited to preparation of labels and bills of landing, informing shippers of pickups and orders to be picked, dealing with returned goods and maintaining an organized documentation system for shipping records and files.
  • Ensure all orders are picked correctly, shipped on time and packed in a manner to handle transportation and arrive at their destination in good condition.
  • Ensure all incoming shipments are properly inspected, counted, signed and disperse.
  • Ensure all transactions, receipts and internal movements are properly entered into NAVISION for Inventory Control and Production order close-outs.
  • Monitor inventory and storage of raw materials, finished products and packaging supplies and advise the appropriate personnel of any potential problems for immediate action
  • Maintain warehouse and cooler cleanliness; ensure cleanliness of building surroundings is also maintained.
  • Maintain and ensure cleanliness in warehouse, cooler and building surroundings.
  • Collect and maintain documentation of all processes / procedures, ensuring that all applicable warehouse/shipping, safety and quality related forms are filled out properly.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

People Development

  • Provide leadership for employee relations through effective and consistent communications, coaching, training, and development and evaluation of employee performance for your team.

  • Ensure the effectiveness of team members through strategic hiring and effective assignment of duties, setting of priorities, delegation of work, discipline, and dismissal.

  • Develop performance goals, metrics, and targets for your team that are consistent with company goals and KPIs.

  • Provides training programs to all Warehouse staff: establishing a highly motivated, flexible, quick-responding, and quality work force.

  • Completes hourly staff Performance Evaluations as required in UKG.
  • Understands and enforces Employment Standards for province of Ontario.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years Warehousing and Distributions supervisory experience.

  • Post-Secondary Education related area of study and/or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills built on a team-focused approach.
  • Good verbal and written English language skills.
  • Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of discretion and tact in handling confidential matters.
  • Ability to supervise, lead and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals.
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and balance conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate with other departments in achieving company goals.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, maintains a position frame of mind and sets an example of professionalism for other employees.

Work Conditions

  • Permanent Full-time position
  • Work is performed 40% in office environment and 60% in Warehouse facility
  • Exposure to noise and a wet temperature varied environment when in the production area
  • Interaction with employees, management, and the public at large
  • Flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to meet business needs
  • Wearing of company provided Uniform and other Personal Protective Equipment is required as applicable
