We are looking for a diligent and organized Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is critical in ensuring that all outgoing orders are accurately processed, packed, and prepared for dispatch. You will be responsible for managing the shipping station, coordinating with carriers, preparing shipping documentation, and verifying order accuracy before shipment. The ideal candidate possesses excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient shipping operation. Your role is vital to customer satisfaction and the smooth functioning of our supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick, pack, and verify outgoing orders.
- Prepare shipping labels and documentation, including bills of lading.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pickups and deliveries.
- Ensure all shipments are properly packaged to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Inspect outgoing shipments for quality control before dispatch.
- Keep the shipping area clean, organized, and safe.
- Operate shipping equipment, such as pallet jacks and shrink wrap machines.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the proper use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with other departments and external partners.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a warehouse environment preferred.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and verification.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 pounds.
- Understanding of shipping procedures and carrier requirements.
- Commitment to workplace safety and correct use of PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
