Puzzle Medical Devices Inc. is developing a percutaneous heart pump for patients with advanced heart failure. The device's design allows for safe percutaneous implantation to support both renal and cardiac function through a 4 mm-pump implanted in the descending aorta with a 4 Fr axillary driveline, allowing full patient mobility. To date, Puzzle Medical Devices Inc. has successfully:

POSITION SUMMARY

Puzzle Medical is seeking a skilled Machinist, proficient in Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), to join our production team. This role is crucial for ensuring the precision machining of components required for our cutting-edge medical devices. We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in operating various machinery and a solid comprehension of machining processes, including EDM. The ideal individual for Puzzle Medical is technically proficient, highly detail-oriented, and capable of working independently within a dynamic environment.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Precision Machining: Produce high-quality medical device components based on engineering drawings and CAD designs.
• CNC Programming: Write, debug, and optimize machine code (e.g., G-code, M-code) for CNC machines to ensure precise operations.
• Equipment Operation: Operate CNC machines, EDM (Sodick), lathes, and milling equipment to manufacture parts with tight tolerances.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, R&D, and software teams to troubleshoot and optimize component designs and integrate automation solutions.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous quality checks to ensure all parts meet regulatory standards and tight tolerances.
• Shop Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized machine shop.
• Prototype Support: Assist with machine setup and testing during prototype development, including integrating new programming and automation features.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives aimed at improving machining efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing automation protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience as a Machinist and Programming in a precision machining environment.
• Proficiency in operating CNC machines, lathes, and other machining equipment and EDM fixturing.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and quality control techniques
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD files
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with tight tolerances and regulatory requirements (ISO 13485 experience is a plus)
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
