Job Description:
As a key member of the purchasing department, the Purchasing Specialist is the direct interface with suppliers and is responsible for purchasing materials, equipment, supplies and services. This position is also responsible for reviewing and analyzing purchase requisitions, investigating, and developing sources of supplies, preparing bid specifications, issuing bid requests, reviewing quotations, cost reduction, and interpreting purchasing procedures to departments and vendors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and process purchase requisitions
- Responsible for completing import/export documentation accurately and efficiently
- Prepare bid specifications, formal bid invitations or requests for proposals, receive and analyze bids, quotes, proposals and administer contracts
- Ensure purchase orders have correct pricing codes, appropriate delivery dates and required signatures
- Accurately maintain and update purchase order files, purchasing logs, and vendor information
- Implement and follow up on change orders
- Identify requesting departments needs and budgetary requirements and makes recommendations to develop
- Assist with clerical duties associated with purchasing, including but not limited to; collection and filing of certificates of insurance, executed contract agreements, and related purchasing documents
- Coordinate shipping with customs agents for clearances on overseas deliveries
- Responsible for price and delivery negotiations; budget, actual monitoring, cost reduction
- Liason between company and vendors/suppliers
- Assist staff with purchasing needs
- Monitor each step of the purchasing cycle to ensure on time delivery
- Identify, qualify capable suppliers, maintain effective relationship with suppliers (KPI)
- Gather and analyze data procurement information
- Monthly purchasing reports (such as raw material, PPE Suppliers and KPI)
- Maintain 5S
- Assist on other projects within the company as assigned
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- 5+ years purchasing experience in a similar role within the automotive industry
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a similar field preferred
- Above average research and customer service skills
- Strong knowledge of MS office applications, SAP and Plex
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Well-developed organization, time management, analytical and follow up skills (ability to read and interpret drawings as needed)
- Above average problem solving and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Intuitive, able to anticipate needs and respond with a sense of urgency
