Facilities Manager

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Reports to: Director, Family Services

Salary Range: $76,000 – $85,000

Position Overview:

Ronald McDonald House Maritimes is hiring a Facilities Manager to lead and support safe, secure, welcoming, and efficient spaces for Maritime families. The role requires strong leadership, process improvement skills, flexibility, and prioritization abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to ensure a safe, clean, welcoming, and secure environment for families and staff within Ronald McDonald House and Family Rooms in Halifax and Moncton
  • Lead teams in Security, Housekeeping, and Maintenance
  • Responsible for oversight of building systems, including CMMS, HVAC, IT, Building Automation System, Access controls, Security, CCTV, etc.
  • Oversee housekeeping and security contracts, ensuring alignment with protocols and emergency plans
  • Oversee operational systems, inventory, infrastructure, and financial management
  • Ensure functioning of physical, mechanical, and IT infrastructures through preventative maintenance and repair
  • Lead and manage Occupational Health and Safety program
  • Promote compassionate, supportive, and open communication
  • Promote continuous improvement and service excellence
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with external security professionals and agencies
  • Compile data for stakeholders
  • Ensure full compliance to policies
  • Update systems and procedures, recommend changes to policies and guidelines
  • Monitor status with respect to Global Sustainable Facilities Modules and Property Reserve Study
  • Collaborate with Ronald McDonald House colleagues nationally and internationally

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years managing a commercial or residential facility
  • Progressive leadership experience, team building, performance management, and strategy development
  • Goal-oriented, sound judgment, integrity, dedication to mission
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proven management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in communal living or medical settings preferred
  • Technical expertise in building systems, security, and life safety
  • Proactive approach to energy management and sustainability
  • JHSC Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Strong organizational skills, project management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Crisis management and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to organize and maintain an orderly work environment
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and remaining on foot for extended periods, including navigating stairs
  • Flexible schedule, availability for emergencies 24/7 except personal holidays

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license, regular access to a vehicle, personal insurance
  • Current Criminal Record Check, vulnerable sector check, and Child Abuse Registry check

Hours & Location:

Ronald McDonald House, 5950 South St., Halifax, NS. Some travel is required. Generally, 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday – Friday, with flexible hours for evenings and weekends as needed.

Compensation:

· Salary: $76,000 – $85,000
