innovative and passionate Civil Design Engineer
to support
Primary and Grid Substation
projects (11kV–132kV) from concept through to commissioning. You'll work developing detailed civil design packs aligned with current policies and engineering standards. Key Responsibilities Lead civil design for indoor and open-terminal substations Prepare substation layouts, technical specs, and detailed drawings (AutoCAD) Produce concept designs and assess engineering options Collaborate with engineering teams and manage junior designers where applicable Respond to site queries during construction Ensure safety, constructability, and compliance in all designs Align designs with programme timelines, budgets, and technical standards Liaise with third-party providers and attend site meetings Continuously improve design documentation and standards Qualifications & Skills HNC in Civil Engineering with
2+ years' experience
in a relevant discipline Strong problem-solving and technical design assessment skills Experience in transmission voltage plant and substation design (advantageous) Familiarity with AutoCAD or willingness to learn quickly Full UK driving licence & willingness to travel for site meetings Behavioural Competencies Forward-thinking : Anticipates future challenges and solutions Customer-focused : Understands client needs and delivers value Analytical : Systematic in problem-solving and decision-making Results-driven : Meets objectives on time and within budget Initiative-taker : Seizes opportunities and adds value proactively Tenacious & Independent : Perseveres through setbacks and stands by ideas Performance Indicators Project designs completed
