Receiving and Shipping Supervisor

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Receiving Supervisor to oversee the inbound logistics operations within our warehouse. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing receiving activities, ensuring accurate inventory control, and leading a team to optimize warehouse distribution processes. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive warehouse management experience, and proficiency with logistics systems to support efficient materials handling and shipping & receiving operations.

Duties

• Supervise daily receiving operations, including the receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming shipments using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and AS400 platforms.
• Oversee inventory management and control to ensure accuracy and proper stock levels, supporting overall warehouse management objectives.
• Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to facilitate timely delivery schedules and resolve discrepancies or damages during receipt.
• Lead and train warehouse staff on best practices for materials handling, heavy lifting, forklift operation, and OSHA safety standards.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in shipping & receiving workflows, including 3PL coordination when applicable.
• Manage inventory distribution within the warehouse to optimize space utilization and streamline logistics operations.
• Monitor compliance with safety regulations such as OSHA guidelines during all warehouse activities.
• Conduct regular audits of inventory levels and reconcile discrepancies to maintain accurate records.
• Support e-commerce fulfillment processes by ensuring timely processing of inbound shipments for order accuracy.
• Collaborate with other departments on logistics planning, including shipping schedules and materials movement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in warehouse management, including supervisory roles such as Warehouse Supervisor or Receiving Supervisor.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, Warehouse Management System (WMS), AS400, and related logistics software.
• Hands-on experience with forklift operation and materials handling equipment; mechanical knowledge is a plus.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and best practices in warehouse environments.
• Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff effectively.
• Experience working within 3PL providers or in e-commerce logistics is preferred.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during daily operations.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory control and process improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures, materials handling techniques, and logistics coordination.
