Application Security Engineer

Job Summary

Tech Planet Inc is seeking an experienced and detail oriented Application Security Engineer to join our growing technology and security team. In this role, you will play a critical part in protecting our applications, systems, and customer data by identifying vulnerabilities, implementing secure development practices, and strengthening our overall application security posture.

You will work closely with software engineers, DevOps teams, and leadership to ensure security is embedded throughout the entire software development lifecycle. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about cybersecurity, proactive in risk identification, and comfortable working in fast paced, modern development environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain application security standards and best practices
• Conduct security assessments, code reviews, and threat modeling for web and mobile applications
• Identify, analyze, and remediate security vulnerabilities throughout the SDLC
• Perform static and dynamic application security testing
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines
• Assist in secure architecture design and security requirement definition
• Monitor and respond to application security incidents and findings
• Research emerging security threats and recommend mitigation strategies
• Develop and maintain security documentation, policies, and procedures
• Provide guidance and training to development teams on secure coding practices

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in application security or cybersecurity engineering
• Strong understanding of secure software development lifecycle concepts
• Experience identifying common vulnerabilities such as OWASP Top 10 issues
• Knowledge of web application technologies, APIs, and microservices architectures
• Hands on experience with security testing tools and vulnerability scanners
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, encryption, and data protection techniques
• Experience working with source code repositories and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to clearly communicate security risks to technical and non technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience securing cloud based applications and services
• Familiarity with container and container orchestration security concepts
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and automation
• Experience with compliance standards and security frameworks
• Background in penetration testing or ethical hacking
• Relevant security certifications are a plus

Pay: $90, $94,300.00 per year
