Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Director to lead engaging recreational and social programs for our senior residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, assisted living, or long-term care environments, with a focus on enhancing quality of life through meaningful activities. This role involves coordinating diverse programs tailored to residents' needs, including those with dementia or memory care requirements, fostering a vibrant and supportive community atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and execute a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical well-being for residents.
- Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities aligned with residents' interests and abilities.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to tailor activities for individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory impairments.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during activities to ensure safety and participation.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to maximize resident engagement while accommodating individual preferences and health considerations.
- Provide counseling and support related to aging issues, enhancing residents' emotional well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to continually improve programming.
- Work closely with families and community resources to foster an inclusive environment that supports residents' social needs.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care settings.
- Strong background in recreational therapy, dementia care, or memory care programs.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging residents with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or cognitive impairments.
- Ability to manage schedules effectively while adapting to changing resident needs.
- Compassionate caregiving approach with knowledge of ADLs assistance when necessary.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling and social work principles relevant to senior populations.
- Experience working with individuals requiring long-term or home & community care services is preferred.
- Ability to foster a positive environment that promotes independence and dignity among residents.
