Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Director to lead engaging recreational and social programs for our senior residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, assisted living, or long-term care environments, with a focus on enhancing quality of life through meaningful activities. This role involves coordinating diverse programs tailored to residents' needs, including those with dementia or memory care requirements, fostering a vibrant and supportive community atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and execute a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical well-being for residents.
  • Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities aligned with residents' interests and abilities.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to tailor activities for individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory impairments.
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during activities to ensure safety and participation.
  • Manage activity schedules efficiently to maximize resident engagement while accommodating individual preferences and health considerations.
  • Provide counseling and support related to aging issues, enhancing residents' emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to continually improve programming.
  • Work closely with families and community resources to foster an inclusive environment that supports residents' social needs.

Skills

  • Proven experience in event planning within assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care settings.
  • Strong background in recreational therapy, dementia care, or memory care programs.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging residents with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or cognitive impairments.
  • Ability to manage schedules effectively while adapting to changing resident needs.
  • Compassionate caregiving approach with knowledge of ADLs assistance when necessary.
  • Knowledge of aging issues counseling and social work principles relevant to senior populations.
  • Experience working with individuals requiring long-term or home & community care services is preferred.
  • Ability to foster a positive environment that promotes independence and dignity among residents.
