NPI Machinist

Experience operating a Mori Seiki NL2000 a plus.

JOB SUMMARY: The NPI Machinist is an advanced level of precision machining. Person sets up and operates numerical control machines or machining centers to perform various machine functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of mainly metallic (aluminum, Inconel, stainless, titanium) work pieces, utilizing knowledge of machine tool capabilities. The NPI Machinist position is a highly skilled and experienced machinist. The NPI Machinist will be expected to effectively communicate with Engineering and Quality to produce good parts with minimal interruption. Critical thinking, troubleshooting, and programming skills are essential.

Hours for this position are 5am - 330pm, Monday - Thursday.

Essential Functions:

• Set-up and operate CNC machines based on detailed engineering drawings and CAD files.
• Ability to read, understand, explain, and execute CNC programs and code.
• Proficiently read and interpret blueprints.
• Proficiently demonstrate comprehension and execution of GD&T.
• Consistently produce good quality first article parts.
• Solve technical machining problems to yield conforming products.
• Work with QA inspectors to troubleshoot nonconforming conditions.
• Work with CNC Programmers to develop sustainable machining programs.
• Establish effective set up procedures, generate work instructions for future production runs.
• Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to next operation/process.
• Ability to run multiple CNC machines.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauge blocks to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Must be efficient and accurate.
• Predictable and reliable attendance.
• Ability to adhere to deadlines and produce quality work.
• Ability to behave respectfully and work collaboratively with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years CNC Machinist and Set Up experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Level 3 or higher blueprint reading skills.
• Proven understanding of feeds and speeds for multiple materials.
• 5 axis Lathe and Mill experience.
• 1-year of Mastercam experience, preferred.
• Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma and a minimum of 5 years of tight tolerance machining and complete set-ups. Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing is preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read, write and speak English.

Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as the ability to convert units of measures. Ability to work with GD&T methodology and ability to extrapolate various measurements.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills: Working knowledge of MS Excel, and Word in an updated Windows environment; General understanding of enterprise software (ERP/MRP systems).
