Memory Care Activities Assistant

All American at Warwick is looking for an Activity Assistant to join our team working in Memory Care. Hours are from 10am-4pm, every other weekend.

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our care by planning and facilitating engaging activities tailored to their interests and abilities. This position requires strong communication skills and a genuine passion for working with individuals facing aging issues, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.

Duties

• Plan, organize, and implement a variety of recreational and social activities for residents in assisted living or nursing home settings.
• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to promote independence and enhance their overall well-being.
• Foster meaningful relationships with residents by actively engaging them in conversations and activities.
• Collaborate with the caregiving team to assess residents' needs and preferences for activity participation.
• Provide support and encouragement during activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
• Document participation and feedback from residents to continually improve program offerings.
• Communicate effectively with families regarding resident involvement in activities and any notable changes in behavior or health.

Experience

• Previous experience in caregiving or working with the elderly is preferred, particularly in long-term care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes.
• Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
• Background in social work, event planning, or related fields will be considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
• A genuine interest in enhancing the lives of individuals facing aging issues through meaningful engagement.
