Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
R.S. 40: et seq. establishes the "Louisiana Industrialized Building Act." This Act directs the fire marshal to register and
regulate manufacturers and dealers of Industrialized Buildings (also referred to as "Relocatable Buildings" or "Movables"), and to
establish procedures by which compliance with the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code (LSUCC) can be achieved.
R.S. 40: effective 7/1/2026) directs the fire marshal to enforce compliance with the fire protection, egress, and accessibility
provisions of the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code as they apply to newly constructed structures and movables.
As such, the work centers about, but is not limited to, the establishment and maintenance of Industrialized Building plan review
procedures, the examination and review of drawings and specifications for Industrialized Buildings based on compliance with the
applicable LSUCC codes and standards, and oversight of the manufacturer and dealer registration and decal issuance process.
Work also includes, but is not limited to, the following related duties:
- Perform general plan review during times when the backlog increases
- Perform comprehensive reviews for compliance with the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code and other applicable codes and
standards for associated architectural systems and coordinate the requirements of these references for each applicable project
- Assist with research and recommendations for proposed equivalent methods of compliance
- Perform occasional inspections on site-specific installations when requested
- Perform product evaluations for building code compliance
- Prepare Interpretive Memorandum for administrative review
- Review unusual projects that require special research or reference seldom used standards.
- Develop standard review comments that reference the laws, rules, codes, and standards for use by other reviewers.
The incumbent in this position will assist with the following:
- Development of training materials and guides for all applicable review types in coordination with the Architect Administrator, the Architect Manager, the Architect Supervisors, and other Specialists in order to
- Provide accurate and consistent information for training the Plan Review staff.
- Provide training classes to OSFM staff and to various industry groups as needed.
