Your role with us

The intensive care unit specializes in caring for a highly critical and diverse patient population, including level 2 trauma, neuro, medical, and surgical cases. You'll work within a multidisciplinary care delivery model, with a strong focus on sepsis care.

The department is known for its team-oriented culture and has earned recognition for excellence. The ICU has received the prestigious Beacon Award four times—an Oregon first—and has also been honored with the Department of Health and Human Services Sustained Improvement in Elimination of Hospital-Acquired Infections Award.

As a certified nursing assistant in the intensive care unit, you play a vital role in supporting critically ill patients by providing hands-on personal care and closely observing changes in condition. Working alongside nurses and the interdisciplinary care team, you help ensure accurate patient identification, timely communication and safe, compassionate care. This role requires strong attention to detail, effective documentation and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Through flexibility, teamwork and a commitment to safety, you will help create a supportive setting that promotes healing, dignity and exceptional patient outcomes.

  • Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes to the nursing team.
  • Support nurses and healthcare staff in delivering personalized, high-quality care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients and families.
  • Provide emotional support and compassionate care during vulnerable moments.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members.
  • Help ensure patient dignity, comfort, and safety at all times.
