Wordpress Developer

We are supporting the largest government agency in
Downey, CA
and seeking a Website UI/UX Designer/Developer (WordPress) to join a long-term digital modernization initiative. This role combines UI/UX design, WordPress development, PHP/JS engineering, accessibility compliance, security hardening, and DevOps support across multiple high-visibility County websites.

Location: Downey, CA (Candidate should live within 20 miles)

Work Type: M-F 8-5/ Hybrid

What You'll Do

• Design and build responsive, ADA-compliant WordPress websites
• Develop custom themes, plugins, and ACF components.
• Support hosting environments on WP Engine + AWS OpenShift.
• Implement REST/GraphQL API integrations
• Optimize performance across PHP, MySQL, and Apache
• Patch, upgrade, secure, and harden WordPress installations
• Collaborate with developers, testers, PMs, and County agencies
• Work with Git, Linux/Bash, DevOps pipelines, and automated workflows

What You Bring

• 5+ years WordPress development (themes, plugins, custom builds)
• Strong UI/UX and responsive design experience
• HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery, Bootstrap, PHP, MySQL
• 2+ years ADA / accessibility remediation
• Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs
• Security hardening & performance tuning
• Git, Linux, CLI, DevOps familiarity
• Bachelor's in IT/CS or equivalent experience
