Our dedicated staff works together to support children's growth and development through play, learning, and care. We are currently seeking a dependable and caring Cook to join our team and help fuel the minds and bodies of our little learners.
Job Summary:
The Childcare Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, child-friendly meals and snacks in accordance with USDA guidelines, licensing regulations, and the center's menu plans. The ideal candidate is organized, follows food safety standards, and enjoys working in a positive environment that supports early childhood development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children ages 1 to 5.
- Follow all CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) and WAC guidelines regarding nutrition and portion control.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Receive and store food supplies appropriately.
- Track inventory and communicate with the director regarding food orders and supply needs.
- Accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Keep daily food production records and documentation.
- Collaborate with classroom staff to ensure mealtimes run smoothly.
Requirements:
- Prior experience working in a kitchen or food service setting (childcare experience preferred).
- Valid Food Handler's Permit or ability to obtain one upon hire.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
- Ability to pass a background check per Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) requirements.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a kitchen or restaurant environment
- Strong food handling skills and knowledge of food safety regulations
- Ability to plan and prepare nutritious meals for children
- Experience in menu planning and dietary department functions is a plus
- Familiarity with catering and serving practices
- Excellent knife skills and culinary techniques
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $21.00 per hour
