Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic *General Manager* to oversee the daily operations of our farm- to- table restaurant. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive management experience in the food industry, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves managing staff, ensuring safety standards, controlling inventory, and maintaining operational efficiency across all departments. The General Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the guest experience, driving sales, and fostering a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the FOH of a well established restaurant with 200 seats in summer and 100 in winter.
- Oversee staff training, development, and performance evaluations to ensure high standards of customer service and operational excellence.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste. (Food inventory, supplies and staffing are handled by the executive chef.)
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards across all areas.
- Handle the Toast POS system for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and improve overall guest satisfaction.
- Coordinate shift management, scheduling staff shifts efficiently to meet business needs.
- Monitor financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue management.
- Conduct interviews and participate in hiring processes to maintain the best possible team.
- Maintain a positive working environment by fostering teamwork, leadership, and effective communication among staff members.
- Manage and promote catering events, banquets, and special functions as needed.
- Monitor social media and web site. Make suggestions to keep things up to date and suggest responses to public comments. (technical aspects are handled by others).
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in the food service industry, preferably within fine dining establishments.
- Extensive knowledge of food and beverage safety standards.
- Experience with Toast POS; cash handling expertise required.
- Strong background in inventory control and budgeting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in staff training & development, supervising teams, and managing shifts effectively and sensitively.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on hospitality excellence.
- Ability to oversee multiple departments including bar operations, FOH staff and some catering, and banquet services.
- Excellent communication skills with experience in interviewing and team management.
- Leadership qualities that inspire staff engagement while maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. Pay: $70, $90,000.00 per year
