Early Team / Startup Role
Atlantic Manufacturing Solutions (AMS) is a growing mechanical engineering design and manufacturing consultancy based in Miami, Florida. We partner with startups and established companies to design, prototype, and manufacture real products.
We're hiring our first full-time Mechanical Design Engineer — someone excited to join a small team early, take real ownership, and help build the company from the inside out.
This role is ideal for an engineer who wants autonomy, project diversity, and who is energized by seeing their work move quickly from concept to physical product.
The Opportunity
This is not a narrowly defined corporate role.
You'll start as a hands-on individual contributor and grow into owning entire projects from early concept through manufacturing and delivery. You'll work directly with clients, make technical decisions, and shape how projects and systems are run.
If you enjoy hands-on engineering and want to be part of shaping a business, this role was designed for you.
What You'll Do
- Design mechanical parts and assemblies in SolidWorks
- Create production-ready designs with a strong focus on DFM
- Design for manufacturing processes including:
- Injection molding
- Sheet metal
- Machined components
- Take projects from early concept through manufacturing and delivery
- Build and test prototypes in-house using our machine shop and rapid prototyping tools
- Participate in and grow into leading client calls and design reviews
- Present concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute to proposals and, over time, own proposal development
- Manage multiple projects with minimal oversight
Who This Role Is For
- An early- to mid-career mechanical engineer who wants more ownership than a large company offers
- Someone comfortable working with limited structure and high trust
- An engineer who enjoys client interaction and explaining design decisions
- A self-starter who can prioritize, communicate, and move projects forward independently
- Someone excited by variety — no two projects are the same
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional experience in mechanical design
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks
- Experience designing real, manufacturable products
- Comfort communicating directly with clients
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice-to-Have (Not Required)
- Experience with FEA, tolerance analysis, or GD&T
- Hands-on prototyping and testing experience
- Exposure to multiple manufacturing processes
- Interest in mentoring future engineers or leading projects
(If you don't check every box but are excited about the role, we encourage you to apply.)
Work Style & Environment
- Hybrid role — mix of in-office and remote work
- Access to a dedicated office and machine shop
- Fast-moving, client-driven projects
- High autonomy and responsibility
